Incoming President Message
Hello AASPT Members,
It is with great humility and excitement that I step into the role of President of the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy. As I begin this new chapter, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Mike Reinold and our dedicated Executive Committee: Rob Manske, Mike Mullaney, Jill Tien-Nissenbaum, Katie Lucas, and Lenny Macrina. Your leadership during a particularly challenging period—marked by significant financial constraints—was instrumental in upholding our core values and supporting our members with purpose and integrity. Your commitment has laid the groundwork for a stronger, more sustainable future, and I am deeply thankful for your service.
I would also like to recognize Cory Martin and Mission Control for their support and expertise in association management. Their guidance helped us navigate critical transitions, and we are grateful for their work on our behalf.
As of July 15th, we are beginning an exciting new partnership with Global Management Partners. While all transitions bring change, this one has already been smooth and promising. I am confident that this collaboration will propel AASPT to new heights and enhance our ability to serve our members.
Please join me in welcoming our new Executive Committee members, Shefali Christopher (Representative at Large) and Scott Greenberg (Representative at Large). They will serve alongside our continuing leaders Terri Chmielewski (Secretary), Katie Lynch (Treasurer) and Andrew Naylor (Vice President).
Looking ahead, I am energized by the opportunities and possibilities before us. This time of transition is our chance to reflect on where we’ve been, realign with our purpose, and reimagine what’s possible for our profession. Now is the time to challenge old assumptions and find new ways to serve our members, elevate our profession, and support the athletes and patients who depend on us. We’ll be embracing fresh ideas- from those that strengthen our financial stability to those that leverage the tremendous expertise within our membership. Our collective knowledge is our greatest untapped resource.
In the coming months, I’ll be reaching out to invite more of you into mentorship and educational initiatives. With the launch of our new educational platform, we are opening the door to more voices, more collaboration, and more impact. Please keep an eye out for opportunities to get involved- there has never been a better time to help shape the future of AASPT.
I am honored to serve in this role and excited to work alongside each of you- our members, volunteers, leaders, and mentors. Together, we will continue to build the future of sports physical therapy through innovation, education, mentorship, and evidence-based care.
Thank you for your trust. Let’s make this next chapter our strongest yet!
Sincerely,
President, American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy
