Jack C. Hughston Sports Physician
To acknowledge and honor a physician who has made a distinguished contribution to the specialty of sports physical therapy.
Eligibility
- Nominee must NOT be a member of the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy.
- Nominee must be a licensed physician; they are not required to have โteam physicianโ status.
- Nominee must demonstrate an interest and investment in the practice of sports physical therapy as evidenced by actions that clearly demonstrate their continued interest and support of sports physical therapy over a period of time.
- A physician may only be awarded this honor once.
Selection Criteria
- Successful candidates should be considered based upon the active role they have demonstrated in the development, progression, and/or support of the profession of sports physical therapy.
- The recipient must have demonstrated clear contributions to the practice of physical therapy. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- joint publications and/or lectures with sports physical therapists
- involvement in panels or advisory boards that promote the practice of sports physical therapy
- demonstration of public support of the practice of sports physical therapy
Nomination Procedure
- Any member of the AASPT may nominate candidates for the award.
- A maximum of one (1) award will be given in any year.
- Nominations must be submitted electronically and include only the following materials.
- Completed online nomination form; and,
- Letter of support from person nominating the member not to exceed two (2) pages, including reasons for the nomination.
- Please have all materials completed and collected when completing the award application. There is no way to save applications in-process so please ensure you have all materials compiled before starting the application.
Notification of the Award
- The President of the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy will notify the recipient of the award and obtain written confirmation of acceptance.
- The President of the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy will invite the recipient to the CSM Awards Ceremony and facilitate attendance at the ceremony.
- The name of the recipient will be kept confidential until announced.
