AASPT 2027 Leadership Elections
Call for Nominations
Help Shape the Future of Sports Physical Therapy!
The American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy (AASPT) is seeking dedicated members interested in serving in leadership roles and helping advance the Academy's mission.
Nominations are now open for five leadership positions in the March 2027 elections. Members are encouraged to nominate themselves or a qualified colleague.
Nomination Deadline: December 15, 2026
Open Leadership Positions
Vice President (1 Position)
Supports the President and Board of Directors in advancing AASPT's strategic priorities, ensuring leadership continuity, and coordinating initiatives across committees and Special Interest Groups (SIGs).
Secretary (1 Position)
Oversees official Board records, meeting minutes, governance documentation, and the accurate recording of organizational decisions.
Representatives-at-Large (2 Positions)
Participate in strategic planning, represent member perspectives, and serve as liaisons to assigned committees, SIGs, and Academy initiatives.
Nominating Committee Member (1 Position)
Works with fellow committee members to identify qualified candidates, review nominations, and develop the leadership election slate.
Leadership Time Commitments
Board Positions
(Vice President, Secretary, and Representatives-at-Large)
- Monthly Board Meetings: Approximately 90 minutes, generally held on the second Tuesday of each month.
- Meeting Preparation: Approximately 1–2 hours of advance review per meeting.
- Committee Participation: At least one committee or task force assignment.
- Additional Responsibilities: Periodic assignments, electronic votes, and calls between meetings.
- Annual Events: Participation in APTA's Combined Sections Meeting (CSM) and the AASPT Annual Meeting.
Nominating Committee
Participation in committee meetings, candidate outreach, application review, and election preparation. Time commitments vary throughout the nomination and election cycle.
How to Submit a Nomination
Self-Nominations
Members interested in serving should submit:
- A current CV or résumé
- A position statement (500 words maximum)
Nominating a Colleague
Simply provide your colleague's name and email address. The Nominating Committee will contact them directly regarding the opportunity.
